Bangiriposhi: Truck carrying centipede confiscated, 2 arrested


Two people have been arrested in connection with the seizure of millions of rupees by the Bangiriposhi Forest Department. Preliminary investigations revealed that the smugglers were traveling from Sambalpur to Dagha in West Bengal.

A team led by Deputy Ranger Shailendra Das, under the direction of DFO Samyam Mallick, has been on duty at Dwarshuni Ghati since 2 p.m. At around 5pm, the six-wheeler chased the passerby and stopped near Bangiriposhi Calcutta intersection. Naresh Kumar Rajak, driver of Jharkhand district grid, and Soiful Khan, a helper from Medinapur, have been arrested. The value of the centipede will be more than Rs 5 lakh, the deputy ranger said. Driver Laxmikant Behera, Forest Guard Rajinikanth Dehuri, Pritam Singh, Malay Mahant and driver Tapan Behera were present at the time of the seizure. The Forest Service is investigating.
